PANAMA’S INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATED IN ANKARA
The 121st anniversary of Panama’s independence was celebrated with a reception held in Ankara Turkiye. The event, hosted by Chargé d’Affaires Francisco Navarro, took place at Panora Mall. Attendees included Ambassador Yaprak Balkan, Director General for Latin America Bilateral Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as ambassadors and invited guests.
At the beginning of the reception, Panama’s Chargé d’Affaires Francisco Navarro welcomed the guests. Following the national anthems of Panama and Turkey, Navarro delivered a speech in which he emphasized Panama’s strategic position as a crossroads between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, highlighting its critical role in global trade.
Ambassador Yaprak Balkan, Director General for Latin America Bilateral Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also addressed the audience. In her speech, she described Panama as a close friend of Turkey and expressed her satisfaction in witnessing the results of Turkey’s Latin America and Caribbean outreach policy initiated 26 years ago. She added that Turkey sees Panama as a gateway to Latin America.
Following the speeches, the host and the guests watched a promotional video about Panama. Attendees had the opportunity to explore a photo exhibition while enjoying live music and sampling traditional Panamanian delicacies.
